Job-seekers: Don’t get fooled by the big and shiny company names – make sure that the company is a good fit for YOU.
When I was recruiting for jobs, I had my sights set on a “dream company” but once I met the hiring manager and recruiting team, I realized it was not a good fit for ME.
Especially in today’s job market, recruiting is a 2-way street. Make sure that you can see yourself working at this company and are valued as an individual.
Don’t simply take a role just because it “sounds good” or comes from a “dream company”.
– Your future self
The image above is from the Netflix global hit-show #squidgame and depicts players losing all sense of morality when they are focused solely on a large cash prize in a piggy bank that looms over all player’s heads.
One of my favorite conversations was with a Facebook Recruiter was when she shared that most candidates self-reject themselves since they put these “dream companies” on a pedestal. In a million years, they could never imagine themselves working for these large companies. You need to treat all companies the same so that you do not act desperate during the recruitment process.
The job search is like dating. You want the feeling to be mutual rather than have one party be obsessed with the other.

And if you are still struggling with landing interviews at these “dream companies”, try to envision yourself being there, for instance, changing your phone’s lock screen, as shared in this blog here.
