So why do job candidates (a.k.a. athletes) recruit for jobs with little to no preparation?

We can learn a lot from marathoners:

Visualize success
๐Ÿƒ Marathoners visualize completing the race
๐Ÿ‘” Job candidates should visualize landing multiple interviews and choose from multiple offers

Deconstruct your goal
๐Ÿƒ Marathoners have proper nutrition and consistently stretch
๐Ÿ‘” Job candidates should network effectively, conduct mock interviews, and research the company in detail

Build new habits
๐Ÿƒ Marathoners run on a consistent basis such as 3x per week.
๐Ÿ‘” Job candidates should set weekly goals such as messaging 10 professionals on LinkedIn and scheduling 5 networking calls

Anticipate roadblocks
๐Ÿƒ Marathoners train in all conditions to prepare for bad weather on race day
๐Ÿ‘” Job candidates should expect rejection and use it as redirection
